Preventative Care

What is the best way to keep your skin healthy and looking great? Wear sunscreen and keep your skin barrier healthy.

Daily use of sunscreen is the single best way to slow down the aging process. Ultraviolet A, or UVA, the suns rays that cause skin aging, present the same damaging effects to the skin in the mid-January at 9 am as they do in the heat of summer at noon. Make sure that your sunscreen protects you from UVA, not all sunscreens do!

The Epionce™ skin care line has proven in multiple clinical trials that it works deep within your skin to keep your skin barrier functioning at its prime. As your bodies first line of defense, your skin barrier protects you from multiple attacks every day. A healthy barrier also repairs itself more readily which will enable your skin to hold onto its youthful glow.

Let’s talk about Botox™

Just this morning I was talking to a prospective client outside of the office, explaining what I do for CT Derm, and the MedSpa by CT Derm. Just like many other conversations that have played out in the same fashion, the person immediately asked if I have ever had Botox™. She looked shocked when I told her that I never have, nor do we offer it. I tried to quickly explain why, telling her that our approach was healthier, and more natural. I tried to caution her about some of the safety reasons, but these quick conversations just don’t give us enough time to really make our case.

The Effects of Stress on Your Skin

For some of us, we will feel a little stress over these next few holidays. For another group, “a little stress” will be the understatement of the season. The planning of dinners, attending parties, and gathering with friends and family can all leave us searching for a place to hide and rest. This physical stress can leave our skins barrier compromised, taking away that vibrant and youthful glow that you once had.

What Exactly is Photodynamic Therapy, or PDT?

Photodynamic Therapy, or PDT, is a highly effective treatment here at the MedSpa. PDT treatments are named after the photo sensitive topical which is applied during this treatment. If you have issues like acne, large pores, pre-cancers, dullness or uneven skin tone, they can all be addressed with this one treatment. This is why we like to call it Max Rejuv!

The Truth About Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are an important part of your skin care routine, but they are also the piece that causes the most confusion among our clients. Most of this confusion is derived from the name! We are going to sort through the information so that you can be well educated.
